Devotees can fly to Shirdi in 15 months

MUMBAI: In less than two years, devotees from the city can hope to cut down on their 8- to 12-hour travel time to Shirdi and instead, fly over there in just a matter of half-an-hour, even as the Union environment ministry gave the nod for an airport to be constructed 13 km from the temple town.

Maharashtra govt scraps VIP passes for temples

Maharashtra  government has abolished VIP passes for several shrines including the iconic Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai.
 
From Shilpa Shetty to the Bachchans, the stars never fail to make a stop at the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai for Lord Ganesha's blessings. But the VIP visits have irked thousands of other devotees who have to patiently wait their turn in the long lines.
 
Now, after receiving a string of complaints from the public the Maharashtra government has decided to abolish VIP passes that enable speedy darshan.

Sai baba temple gets Rs 5 cr security system

Security at Shirdi Saibaba temple is being beefed up at a cost of Rs 5 crore and the new system can detect explosives. Shirdi Sai Sansthan Trust officials said the system can also locate and alert the temple staff to the presence of thieves, pickpockets and even terrorists.
The officials held a meeting with additional chief secretary (home) Chandra Iyengar on Wednesday and the government has decided to hold security drills too. "We have told the local police to conduct security checks,'' she said.

In chapter 26 of Sri Sai Satcharita, Mr. Gopal Narayan Ambadekar, who was in the Akbari department, quit his job at a very early age, during the 10th year of his service, before his children settled in life. He did not get any other job after that and so. he spent all the money he has earned.. He passed seven years in this condition and since he did not get a job, he came to Shirdi to end his life. But Baba saved him .

In chapter 43 of Sri Sai Satcharita ,Bapusaheb Jog came to Shirdi in 1909 and served Baba. After Megha's death he performed the aarti ceremony daily . He once asked Baba, " Baba I have served you long single mindedly. My mind is not yet calm and composed. When will you bless me?. Jog wanted to take sanyas . Baba said, " In due time, all your delusions created by Maya will vanish, You will renounce all your attachments and you will conquer lust. Then you can resort to your begging bowl".

In chapter 12,of Sri Sai satcharita when Mrs. Nimonkar was in Shirdi, her son fell ill at Belapur, which was her parent's house. She wanted to go to Belapur and spend some time with her parents and relatives. But, Mr. Nimonkar wanted her to come back the following day. But when she went to take Baba's permission to leave, Baba said to her, " go quickly, Be calm, stay comfortably in Belapur for four days. See all your relatives and then return to Shirdi" .

In the 47th Chapter of Sri Sai satcharita , when Gauri attained the marriageable age which was 16 years in those days, Gauri's father, the priest who was very close to Baba prayed to Baba to find a suitable match for her. Baba said that, the groom would come shortly and one day Veerabhadrappa came. The priest liked the boy.
